Heartswell donation

Following our golf day last Friday, we received this thank you for all of you who donated to Heartswell charity on the ‘beat the pro’ hole…

Thank you to everyone who donated to what is a brilliant charity!

Dear Damian,
On behalf of everyone at the charity I would like to thank you for the fantastic donation of £170 which we received from you.
I understand this was raised at a golfing event at Elfordleigh last week.

As you may already be aware donations of this kind help us in purchasing vital cardiac equipment for hospitals in the South West, funding a specialist counselling service, providing defibrillators at various venues, funding specialist cardiac nurses and securing the future of the Lodge for all.

Please thank all those who contributed, I hope it was a good day.

Plymouth v Bath U’11 match report

Plymouth Schools FA v Bath Schools FA
December 5th 2015
Marjon

PSFA U11’s can’t do wrong at the moment. In typical British weather our boys put on superb performances, playing in two different styles in the two halves of the game. Captain Tylor ensured Plymouth would play with the extremely strong wind in the first period meaning we were able to press high up the pitch and stop Bath being able to get out of their own half. The long direct passes into Jack up-top and in behind caused problems from the off and we were quickly rewarded. A great ball into our number 9’s feet enabled him to break away with pure pace. A great roll of his defender and there was no catching him as he cooly slotted away within the first 5minutes. There was no need to fix what wasn’t broken and so Plymouth continued to pin Bath back into their own half. From Fin’s long direct throw into the box, Jack found himself getting a second to put us into an early 2-0 lead. Bath then got back into the game creating a couple chances forcing some good saves from Lloyd and some quality challenges and headers from Mr Consistent Tyler. Before the break it looked like Jack was in for his hat-trick however he was denied by a good save from the opposition ‘keeper only to see Isaac ready and waiting to knock in the rebound for a half-time lead of 3-0. The second half was a lot more even with our boys finding out just how difficult it was to get up with pitch against the wind however, by keeping the ball on the floor and playing some absolutely stunning football, Bath were unable to get a goal back. Harry finished things off with a trademark long-range free kick to secure 9pts from our opening 3 games and the top of the Cotswold League table. Credit to Bath who looked to be a fantastic footballing team but our boys were simply unstoppable and in the end it turned out to be a comfortable result.

Every single one of our young men worked their socks off to provide us with a great display of how to use strategy in order to win 2 halves of football.

Massive well done to every single one of you and a special thank you to Thomas & Joe who came to support the lads while they recover from their injuries.

Final Score:
Plymouth 4-0 Bath

Gloucester weekend (Sunday fixture)

The rest of our U11’s trip to Gloucester..

As we’ve done for many years now, the Saturday fixture isn’t the end of the weekend for our U11’s squad. Traditionally the boys play bowling in the evening with the boys from Gloucester and then have a friendly fixture on the Sunday. This year was no different! After a great night of bowling and arcade games (and maybe a little bit too much alcohol from our parents!!!!) the boys were ready to play again! The good times from Saturday rolled on through as our boys put on yet another star-studded performance! It was goals goals goals in this game as we showed why we’re chasing the league title this season. In a game against tough opposition, Plymouth needed to ensure that they had enough fuel left in the tank and apparently they never run out of the stuff! More goals from Isaac (2) and Joe showed that they weren’t finished from Saturday and this time Harry (2) and Finlay thought they would also get in on the act! There was a moment where Plymouth looked a little tired and conceded a goal however that in no way dampened the high level of quality again showed. To play as well as we did Saturday after a long car journey, have a late night which was packed with fun and excitement and to then do it again on Sunday is something you should be really proud of boys! Huge well done from all the staff to every single one of you!!

We hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, hopefully you’re now ready for what the rest of the season has in store!

Final score: PSFA 6-1 winners

2 games, 2 wins, 1 overnight stay, 1 great night of laughter! Gloucester is painted Green & White.. (again!)

Gloucester V Plymouth U11’s match report

Gloucester Schools FA v Plymouth Schools FA

Under 11’s

Cotswold League fixture

Saturday, November 21st, 2015

In the build up to the boys first league game of the season Plymouth had been in great form. Goals have been coming by the plenty and after qualifying for the national finals in representative football a few weeks ago, we had every right to turn up and show our old rivals what we are all about this season. PSFA did not disappoint in the opening 5 minutes of the game. Complete domination of possession and beautiful free-flowing football meant that Gloucester really struggled to get any sort of foothold in the game. With that said, it was Gloucester who actually broke the deadlock. A very well taken goal by the opposing number 9 left Lloyd with no chance and meant that we had to come from behind and that we did. The difference in quality of passing was to come good when Jack pulled one back for Plymouth. With the score then tied at 1-1 there was only ever going to be one winner. Before half time Isaac got himself on the scoresheet meaning we went into the half time break with the lead. The second half gave our boys the opportunity to really enjoy themselves as they made chance after chance being unlucky to hit the woodwork on more than one occasion. Gloucester had their own chances however after instructions given by our staff to our very intelligent skipper were taken on board, Tylor ensured that their talented young striker didn’t get a second. Midway through the second half Joe made it 3 in his first game back from injury after 5 weeks out of the squad! Not a bad way to come back we must say. Overall Plymouth were the better side and dominant at times being able to see the game out comfortably. Every single one of our boys did their city proud by putting on such a display. Massive congratulations and thank you from all of the staff.

Special mentions to Harry & Jamie who were absolutely exceptional throughout the game. The opposing manager commented on the intelligence in midfield shown by Harry and expert defending at fullback from Jamie. Well done boys!

The boys showed great character to come back from a goal down but it has to be said, the quality that was produced from the Plymouth lads always deserved 3 points.

Well done boys, we have now raised the expectation bar even higher!

Final score:
Gloucester Schools FA 1-3 Plymouth Schools FA
